What These Numbers Mean

The figures above represent the profile of recent ISB classes and are intended to provide a broad benchmark rather than admission cutoffs.

Many successful applicants receive admission with profiles that differ from these averages because ISB follows a holistic admissions process, evaluating professional achievements, leadership, career progression, essays and interviews alongside academic credentials and test scores.

ISB Admission Process

Understanding the admission process helps candidates prepare well in advance and avoid last-minute surprises.

Step 1 — Online Application

Complete the online application and submit your profile along with three application essays. These essays play a significant role in helping the Admissions Committee understand your professional journey, leadership experiences and career aspirations.

Step 2 — Shortlisting

Applications are evaluated holistically based on academics, professional experience, GMAT/GRE score, leadership potential and application quality. ISB follows a rolling admissions process, so interview calls and final decisions are released throughout the admission cycle.

Step 3 — Interview

Shortlisted candidates appear for a personal interview. On the interview day, candidates also complete two on-the-spot essays, designed to evaluate communication, structured thinking and clarity of expression.

Step 4 — Admission Decision

Successful candidates receive admission offers on a rolling basis. Not every applicant receives their result on the same date.

P2P Insight

Many PSU and Government professionals initially assume that the GMAT score is the biggest deciding factor for ISB admissions.

Our experience suggests otherwise. Candidates who clearly communicate their leadership journey, career aspirations, measurable impact and reasons for pursuing an MBA often perform significantly better than candidates who rely only on high test scores.

For experienced professionals, essays and interviews frequently become the differentiating factor.

What ISB Looks For

ISB follows a holistic admissions philosophy. Rather than evaluating applicants only on academic performance or test scores, the Admissions Committee looks for professionals who demonstrate leadership, growth and future potential.

P2P Perspective

For many PSU and Government professionals, ISB is attractive not simply because of placements, but because it offers an opportunity to redefine one's career. Recent placement outcomes indicate significant movement across both industries and job functions, making ISB particularly relevant for professionals considering a long-term career transition.

Common Mistakes PSU & Government Professionals Make While Applying to ISB

Strong professionals sometimes submit average applications because they underestimate the importance of positioning their experience effectively.

Describing Responsibilities Instead of Impact

Many applicants write about what they do rather than the value they created. ISB looks for measurable impact, leadership and outcomes.

Weak Career Goals

Statements like "I want growth" or "I want better opportunities" rarely stand out. Career goals should be specific, realistic and aligned with your experience.

Underestimating Essays

Many PSU professionals focus heavily on GMAT preparation but spend insufficient time on essays. Essays are often where strong applicants distinguish themselves.

Insufficient Interview Preparation

The interview and on-the-spot essays evaluate much more than technical knowledge. Communication, clarity and structured thinking play a significant role.
