Can PSU employees apply to one-year MBA programs?
Yes. PSU and Government professionals can apply to one-year MBA programs such as ISB PGP, IIMA PGPX, IIMB EPGP and IIMC MBAEx if they meet the eligibility criteria of the target school.
Is a one-year MBA a good way to move from a PSU or Government job to corporate?
For most PSU and Government professionals, yes. A one-year MBA gives business education, a peer network across industries and access to campus placements, which makes a move into consulting, strategy, product, operations or finance roles far more structured than a direct switch.
How many years of experience do I need?
ISB PGP asks for a minimum of 24 months of work experience, IIMA PGPX a minimum of 4 years, and IIMB EPGP and IIMC MBAEx a minimum of 5 years. With 3–4 years, ISB is usually the main option; from 5 years onwards, most one-year MBAs in India are open to you.
Can I return to my PSU after MBA?
Many candidates explore MBA through sabbatical, study leave, or sponsored routes and return with broader managerial exposure.
Is MBA useful for Government employees?
Yes, especially when the candidate wants structured business exposure, leadership growth, wider career options, or a future corporate transition.

Do reserved-category candidates have opportunities in one-year MBA?
Yes. Most IIMs follow the Government of India reservation policy, while ISB does not. Reserved-category candidates should review each school’s latest admission policy and still prepare a strong, competitive application.

Since 2020, 93 of the 98 candidates P2P mentored were selected, a 95% conversion rate. In 2026, 6 of 7 candidates were selected.
